Hi I’m Ramblings and I’m originally from England. I originally caught the travel-bug in my gap-yahhh before university. I know, how cliché! I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and wasn’t even sure about even taking the place I had achieved at university so decided taking a year out to earn some dolla dolla billz and live without any external pressures after 15 years in the education system.
At this time in my life I was ruled by my anxiety and I felt massive fear about doing so many things. My mum thought that travel would be the perfect push for me to overcome my fear of the world, and as mums always are, she was right. It seems so wild to look back and see what I was scared of and how far I have come, and for that I will always be eternally grateful for travel.
I started using the ‘Workaway’ website travelling round and I finished my year interailling throughout Europe. This was eye-opening for me. I had always been interested in other cultures and people but had never seen it so clearly exemplified in a hobbie called backpacking.
Every summer holiday after I’d finished uni for the year was spent saving up enough money to go travelling for a couple of months to more exciting destinations that the next. My travel has been on a shoe-string and been very humble but I’m glad to say has always been financed only by me and if anything I think it made the experiences even better!
I took the plunge and decided to live in Nicaragua and this was another game changer for me and really cemented the idea that being in different places and discovering new things every day is what I am meant to be doing. I thrived in the chaos and truly loved it. It was a truly special time. I suppose what I am trying to do now is seeing how I can finance a life like that for the full term!
So here I am now! I’m writing this blog not only to be some sort of help (hopefully) but also to document this crazy turn my life seems to have taken.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog and have some absolutely fantastic crazy adventures of your own!
